He explains how his work with this patient illustrates a Bionian approach to clinical treatment. He also explicates Bion’s integration of both Kleinian and Freudian theory. Presenter: Paulo Sandler, MDDr. Sandler is one of the leading psychoanalysts in Brazil, where he is a training analyst at the Brazilian Psychoanalytic Society. He is also a psychiatrist in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sao Paulo. He has written many papers in Portuguese and English. In recent years, there has been an upsurge of interest in the work of Wilfred Bion. Sandler is a leading explicator of Bion’s ideas and has published two major works: The Language of Bion: A Dictionary of Concepts, and A Clinical Application of Bion’s Concepts. Discussant: Colin Pereira-Webber, MA, LCSW Colin Pereira-Webber is a social worker and a psychoanalyst, practicing in Elmhurst and Chicago. He is a faculty member at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis, and former Director of the Institute’s Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program.
